Unlocking Eureka Funding: How Canadian SMEs Can Secure Up to $500K for Innovation

For Canadian small and medium-sized enterprises seeking to engage in international R&D projects, Eureka offers valuable funding opportunities. The National Research Council Canada's Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC IRAP) provides financial support to eligible Canadian SMEs participating in Eureka's Network projects. These projects can span all technological fields and application domains.
Eligible Canadian SMEs may receive up to 50% coverage of eligible project costs, with a maximum total funding amount of $500,000 CAD. The funding period can range from 12 to 36 months. Importantly, this funding is a non-repayable contribution, disbursed against approved work that has been completed and invoiced.
To participate, Canadian SMEs must form a consortium that includes at least one Canadian SME and an organization based in one of the Eureka member countries or regions. The project should aim to research or develop a product, process, or service intended for commercialization.
The application process for the winter-spring 2025 call for projects is as follows:
December 1, 2024: Call opens.
April 1, 2025: Registration deadline for Canadian SME applicants.
April 15, 2025: Expression of Interest deadline for Canadian SME applicants.
May 30, 2025: Submission deadline (23:59 CEST / 17:59 EDT).
August-September 2025: National funding procedures commence.
September-October 2025: Expected project start date.
